What's different about BYD keys

BYD's electric cars use several key types at once (fob, NFC card and phone), which is great until the phone dies or the card is locked inside. BYD cars lean on digital keys: a smart key fob, and on many models an NFC card key and a phone digital key in the BYD app. An NFC card needs no battery, which makes it the best backup to carry.

BYD key fob battery dead? How to get in and start

1. Get in: If your BYD has an NFC card key, it needs no battery: tap it on the car's card reader (your manual shows where). Phone digital keys work if your phone has charge.
2. Start the car: With a weak fob, follow the 'key not detected' steps in your BYD manual. If the car still won't detect a key or card, call us.
